The League of Women Voters of Rhode Island The League of Women Voters Rhode Island is a multi-issue nonpartisan organization that operates on three levels--local, state and national.

What is the League?

Institutionalized in 1946 when the League changed from a federation of state Leagues to a unified association of members. Part of the League's mission is to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation in government. organization. The League's mission also includes taking action on governmental measures and policies in the public interest. Through a process of study and consensus, League members establish positions on issues and those become the basis of the League's advocacy. The LWVRI is a 501(c) (4)organization. The League of Women Voters Rhode Island operates on three levels--local, state and national. When you join the League ou become a member of a local League, the LWVRI and the LWVUS; thus, members have an opportunity to promote democracy in their communities and statewide and become informed about issues from health care to environment to election reform. Members may act on behalf of the League when authorized by the appropriate board.

The League of Women Voters of Rhode Island Education Fund

The Rhode Island League of Women Voters Education Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization. The Education Fund provides members of the League of Women Voters, as well as the general public, with information and educational services on elections and on current public policy issues.
